88 Fortunes slot: the Bally floor game, its online versions and where it is legal

88 Fortunes is a Bally slot that first ran on casino floors as one of the games on Duo Fu Duo Cai, Bally’s linked-jackpot product, and it now belongs to Light & Wonder, the company formerly known as Scientific Games. The main online version is a five-reel, 243-ways game with four jackpot levels and a 96% RTP on the studio’s US listing. As of October 2026 it is verified at licensed online casinos in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and West Virginia, open to players 21 or older who are physically in the state.

Where 88 Fortunes came from

Duo Fu Duo Cai is a linked product: several base games tied to a shared set of jackpots. 88 Fortunes was one of the base games in that family. When Bally placed a stand-alone Super 88 Fortunes in Macau in 2015, trade press described it as a version of a game first found on the Duo Fu Duo Cai link, so the linked floor game came first.

Bally is now one of Light & Wonder’s brands, alongside WMS and Shuffle Master, which is why online lobbies list 88 Fortunes under Light & Wonder. The floor machine and the online game are separate products: do not assume the jackpot amounts, bet steps or payback you remember from a casino carry over. Our guide to what changes when a slot moves online covers the general pattern.

The online versions and where they are legal

Light & Wonder lists three online versions built on the 88 Fortunes theme.

The studio’s state tags are incomplete, so a missing tag does not prove a game is absent. Pennsylvania shows why: an April 2020 trade report named Rush Street Interactive, through BetRivers and PlaySugarHouse, as the first Pennsylvania operator to offer 88 Fortunes, after it had been the most popular of more than 550 slots on PlaySugarHouse in New Jersey. Lobbies change, so check the casino’s current game list. Our page on where to play 88 Fortunes online tracks the states and casinos in more detail.

How 88 Fortunes plays, pays and awards its jackpots

Reels, ways and the All Up bet

The main version pays across 243 ways on three rows and five reels, and its stake works through what the studio calls the All Up bet mechanic, built around gold symbols. The page on how 88 Fortunes plays explains what Light & Wonder does and does not publish about that bet, the bet range, the top prize and the Megaways version.

The four jackpots and the Fu Bat

The jackpot ladder runs Mini, Minor, Major and Grand, and Light & Wonder describes the Fu Bat Jackpot Feature as the route to one of those four. There is also a pick bonus and a free-spins round. Our page on the 88 Fortunes jackpots takes each in turn.

RTP and what it costs to play

The 96% figure belongs to the US listing for game 500109. Light & Wonder has built other versions of the game at lower settings, and the casino picks which one it runs. The RTP and volatility page shows how to read the figure on your casino’s rules screen and what it means per hour of play.

The Jackpot Festival and its first win

88 Fortunes Jackpot Festival adds a wide-area progressive: one jackpot pool that grows as many players feed it, rather than a fixed amount inside a single game. Caesars announced in June 2023 that a player from New Jersey had won the first wide-area progressive jackpot on the game, $308,914.50, on a spin of $2.64 at Caesars Sportsbook & Casino. A win of that size is a rare event, not a pattern. Our guide to progressive jackpots on US online slots explains how these pools are funded.

Dancing Drums, the sister game

Dancing Drums is a sister game from the same Bally Duo Fu Duo Cai family, and it has its own online line: Dancing Drums, released in March 2018 with New Jersey and Pennsylvania tags and a 96% RTP; Dancing Drums Explosion, released in New Jersey in June 2021; and Dancing Drums Prosperity, released in West Virginia and Pennsylvania in October 2022, with RTP versions of 94.05% and 96% and its 96% version also tagged for Michigan and New Jersey. Each is a separate game with its own rules screen.
