88 Fortunes jackpots: the four tiers, the Fu Bat feature, free spins and the Jackpot Festival

88 Fortunes has four jackpot tiers, Mini, Minor, Major and Grand, and Light & Wonder describes the Fu Bat Jackpot Feature as the way one of them is awarded. Alongside the jackpots, the studio lists a pick bonus and a free-spins round. One online version, 88 Fortunes Jackpot Festival, adds a wide-area progressive jackpot on top, and it paid its first one in New Jersey in June 2023.

The four jackpot tiers

The ladder runs Mini, Minor, Major and Grand, with the Grand at the top.

The studio’s US listing for game 500109 names “4-level jackpots” but gives no amounts, and its rebuilt version of the game describes them as four static jackpots, meaning set amounts rather than pools that grow. Jackpot values depend on the version and on your bet, so read the figures on the game screen at your casino rather than trusting a number from a video or a floor machine.

How the Fu Bat Jackpot Feature works

Light & Wonder’s description is short: the Fu Bat Jackpot Feature can trigger one of the four jackpots. The US listing also names a pick bonus among the game’s features. The studio does not say how the pick bonus and the Fu Bat feature fit together, how many picks there are or what each pick can award, so the rules screen in the game is the place to see that for your casino’s version.

The gold symbols matter here too. The studio says gold symbols raise the game’s win potential and that the more gold you play, the bigger the rewards. It does not say which bet level brings which jackpot within reach, and that can differ between versions, so check the help screen before assuming the Grand is live at a small stake. Our page on how 88 Fortunes plays covers the All Up bet behind the gold symbols.

The free spins

Both the US listing and the rebuilt version list a free-spins round. On the rebuilt version, the studio says the free games use high-paying symbols only; the US listing does not describe the round. Neither page gives the number of spins, so the rules screen at your casino is where to find the count and any retrigger rule for the version it runs.

88 Fortunes Jackpot Festival: the wide-area progressive

At G2E in October 2022, Light & Wonder said its wide-area progressive jackpots for US online casinos would premiere with 88 Fortunes Jackpot Festival, run through its OpenGaming platform. A wide-area progressive is a single prize pool that grows as many players feed it, so it can grow larger than a fixed jackpot before someone wins it.

The first win came on Caesars Sportsbook & Casino in New Jersey. Caesars announced in June 2023 that a player from New Jersey won $308,914.50 on a $2.64 spin, the first wide-area progressive jackpot paid on the game. A pool like this is funded by a small slice of many players’ stakes, which is why its prize can far outstrip any single bet. Hitting it is a rare event on any spin, and nothing about recent wins changes the odds of the next one.

Our guide to progressive jackpots on US online slots explains how these pools are seeded and funded and how they differ from a game’s fixed jackpots.

The jackpots are paid for out of the game’s return to players, so the payback figure tells you what all these features cost over time. The 88 Fortunes RTP and volatility page shows how to check it, or go back to the 88 Fortunes overview for the versions and legal states.
