Yes: the DoubleDown Casino app names Double Diamond among its slots in its App Store listing (updated August 11, 2026), and the listing says the app offers no real-money gambling. Two caveats come with it. IGT has claimed since March 2025 to have ended DoubleDown’s US licenses for its social casino games, which DoubleDown disputes, and free play shows how the game feels, not what a real-money version pays back.
What is DoubleDown Casino?
DoubleDown Casino is a free social casino app, and nothing you win there is money. Its App Store listing names Double Diamond alongside Golden Goddess, DaVinci Diamonds and Wheel of Fortune slots.
The company behind it, DoubleDown Interactive, bought the US social casino business from IGT in 2017. DoubleU Games controls about 67.1% of the company. In its annual report for 2025, filed with the SEC on March 31, 2026, DoubleDown says it licensed about 320 IGT slot titles as of December 31, 2025.
The disputed IGT license
In March 2025 IGT sent DoubleDown a letter claiming to terminate its licenses to develop and distribute IGT social casino games and demanding that it stop US distribution. The reasons IGT gave included a January 2025 memo from the Washington State Gambling Commission on whether virtual-currency play in social casino games is legal.
DoubleDown disputes the termination, says IGT has no basis for it, and says it intends to keep distributing the games. We report this as a contested dispute, drawn from DoubleDown’s own filing, and take no side. The outcome could change which IGT games the app carries, so check the app itself before you count on finding Double Diamond there.
What free play can and cannot tell you
Free play is a fair way to learn the game. It can show you:
- how the three reels and single payline look and move,
- the Double Diamond wild doubling and quadrupling wins in practice,
- the pace of one-line spins, and whether you enjoy a game with no bonus round.
It cannot show you:
- The real-money payback. The app is a separate social product, not the regulated real-money game, so its results say nothing reliable about the 95.40% to 95.44% printed on the rules screen at licensed online casinos.
- A pattern to exploit. Every spin is independent in both places. A run of wins or losses in the app predicts nothing about a real-money spin.
- How real stakes feel. Losing in a free app and losing your own money are different experiences, so set a budget before you switch.
Is there a free demo at regulated online casinos?
We could not confirm a demo mode for Double Diamond at regulated US online casinos. Some casinos offer free demo play on some games, and that varies by casino and state, so check the game’s tile in the lobby.
Real-money play is a different step: you must be 21 or older and physically inside a state where online casinos are legal, and the game you get there has its own rules screen and published RTP.
