Light & Wonder builds its Huff N’ Puff games at five RTP settings, 87%, 90%, 92%, 94% and 96%, and the casino picks which one to run. US launch reports cite 96% for Huff N’ Even More Puff at DraftKings and for Huff N’ Puff Highrise at Hard Rock Bet, but we could not confirm the US setting for Huff N’ More Puff, so the figure on your casino’s rules screen is the one to trust. The studio publishes no volatility rating.

The RTP settings, game by game

Game Settings on the studio’s page US figure reported
Huff N’ More Puff 87%, 90%, 92%, 94%, 96% Not confirmed
Huff N’ Even More Puff 87%, 90%, 92%, 94%, 96% 96.0% (DraftKings launch report, August 2025)
Huff N’ Puff Highrise Not checked 96% (Hard Rock Bet launch report, September 2025)

The studio pages behind the first two rows are written for the European and UK releases, but they show how the games are supplied: one design, five paybacks, and the operator chooses. A nine-point spread between the lowest and highest setting is wide, and the game looks identical at every one of them. Nothing on the reels tells you which version you are playing.

How to check the RTP before you play

  1. Open the game in the casino’s lobby.
  2. Tap the help, info or paytable button, usually an “i” or a menu icon.
  3. Look for the line naming the return to player, theoretical return or payout percentage.
  4. If you cannot find a single figure, ask the casino’s support team which setting it runs before you deposit.

The same game can run at different settings at two casinos in the same state, so check at each casino you use rather than carrying a figure over.

The bonus buy and its return

FanDuel named the bonus buy as the one difference between online Huff N’ More Puff and the floor game. We have not seen a published return figure for the bonus buy on any US version, so do not assume it matches the base game’s RTP. If the rules screen lists a separate figure for the bought bonus, that is the one that applies when you buy.

Whatever its return, a buy puts its whole price on a single round, and the result is as uncertain as any spin. Check the price against your budget before you buy, and count every buy against it.

What the gap between 92% and 96% costs

RTP is easiest to judge as a cost. Multiply your stake by your spins per hour, then by the house share (100% minus the RTP), and you have the expected loss per hour over the long run.

As an illustration only, with assumed numbers:

Assumption At 96% At 92% At 87%
Stake per spin $0.50 $0.50 $0.50
Spins per hour 600 600 600
Total wagered per hour $300 $300 $300
Expected cost per hour $12 $24 $39

The same hour at the same stake costs twice as much at 92% as at 96%, and more than three times as much at 87%. Any single session can land far above or below these averages; the arithmetic describes the long run, not your next hour.

Volatility: not published

Light & Wonder gives no volatility rating for these games, so labels you see elsewhere are estimates. What the design does show is that part of the return is tied up in the Hard Hat free spins, the Wolf’s multipliers and the wheel jackpots, which land rarely. Long stretches of small or no wins between features are part of how such a game is built.

Set a session budget and stop when it is spent; our responsible gambling page has more on limits. For how the features pay, read the Huff N’ Puff bonus features, or see how Huff N’ Puff plays for the bet range and the bonus buy.
